EX 13.2 (Question: 5)
The given distribution shows the number of runs scored by some top batsmen of the world in one-day international cricket matches.

Find the mode of the data.
Solution:
Mode
we use the formula:

Where:
Modal class = 4000 – 5000 (highest frequency = 18)
𝑙 = 4000→ lower boundary of modal class
𝑓1 = 18 → frequency of modal class
𝑓0 = 4 → frequency of class before modal class
𝑓2 = 9 → frequency of class after modal class
ℎ = 1000 → class width
Using formula:
Mode, =𝒍+[(𝒇_𝟏−𝒇_𝟎)/(𝟐𝒇_𝟏−𝒇_𝟎−𝒇_𝟐 )]×𝒉

"Mode "=4000+((18−4)/(2(18)−4−9))×1000
=4000+(14/(36−14))×1000=4000+(14/23)×1000
						 =4000+608.7						 =4608.7
Therefore, the modal runs scored by top ODI batsmen is approximately 4608.7.
