Given that HCF (306, 657) = 9, find LCM (306, 657)

Solution:

Given:

  • HCF(306, 657) = 9
  • Numbers: 306 and 657
Express the formula

            9 × LCM = 306 × 657

Simplify the product

Notice that 306 is divisible by 9:

            306/9 = 34

Thus,

           LCM = 34 × 657

Multiply

           34 × 657 = 34 × (600 + 57) = 34 × 600 + 34 × 57 = 20400 + 1938 = 22338

Final Answer

           LCM (306,657) = 22338
