Introduction to Chemical Reactions

A chemical reaction is a process in which one or more substances (called reactants) are transformed into new substances (called products).

Example:

When magnesium (Mg) reacts with oxygen (O₂), it forms magnesium oxide (MgO):

Mg + O₂ → MgO

This is a combination reaction, where two elements combine to form a compound.
